The Man I Outgrew — the film, 0:42
Before the road, there was a stage.
From 2014 to 2019, this was the man: the suit, the seminar stage, the view from the front of the room. Promoting events across the United States, certain he had already arrived. The photos from those years tell the truth he couldn't see at the time — a man performing a life instead of living one.
His words for that man, from the album itself: "That's the guy I was trying to destroy. All of my ghosts lie within that man right there. He no longer exists."
But here's the lesson the road taught him — and the one this Vault entry exists to hand you: you don't bury the old you. You outgrow him and ride on. The old you isn't a grave to visit or a shame to hide. He's a size you no longer fit. You thank the road for the proof, and you keep pedaling.
What that era actually cost — and what it took to walk away from it — stays in the book. OUTGROW YESTERDAY, coming soon.
So the question this one leaves with you: which old version of you are you still trying to bury — when all he ever needed was to be outgrown?
